Design in the 21st century must be limitless in its possibilities because the point of purchase is now limitless. Anywhere consumers can pick up a signal with their cell phones and other digital devices they can buy something. And they do. The challenge for design is still to create packaging that promises adventure, solves problems, offers transcendence as the consumer handles the product in a store, and then to re-create that promise in the virtual world where the only thing the consumer can feel is the touchscreen.
Jeannie Joshi specializes both in niche marketing and mass marketing with a niche appeal. Growing up in India, Africa and the United States, educated in digital design as well as traditional art, she has a mission to make the world more beautiful and give products both old and new a “numinous” glow that will attract consumers in-store, online and anywhere there’s a cell phone tower in the vicinity.
